The Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre Golf Classic is the primary funding source for the research grants awarded by the BC Sports Medicine Research Foundation. The Foundation was established in 1997, by the esteemed medical professionals of the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre, and is world renowned for its clinical and research activities.
The primary focus of the Research Foundation is to raise awareness and funds in support of the Centre’s research activities. These studies improve the quality of life for active people, from recreational to elite athletes, from childhood to senior years.
The AMSMC’s mandate is education, service and research, for the management of musculoskeletal conditions. Each year the BCSMRF awards research funds to investigate all aspects of applied sport science and sports medicine. This funding helps to support research conducted by graduate students under the guidance of the Faculty of the Allan McGavin Sports Medicine Centre.

The Royal College of Chiropractic Sports Sciences (Canada) was proud to be a sponsor for the second year at the AMSMC Golf Classic. As being a recent graduate of the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, Armitage & Associates Chiropractic Group associate Dr. Janine SieuNarine was proud to represent the RCCSS at the tournament. It is events like this that bridge the gap for multidisciplinary care and allows an additional avenue for others to be educated about the RCCSS(C).
When we participate in events that bring together so many health care disciplines, it allows us to interact with the prevalent individuals of sports medicine and acknowledges the importance of integrative care. Intercollaberative care is vital to athlete’s plan of management in order to deliver the best multi-model approach to treatment. There were so many amazing people that were involved with the golf tournament.
Dr. SieuNarine had the pleasure of meeting some of the best in their field and hope to continue to educate others on the role the RCCSS(C) in providing expert care for elite athletes. The day was filled with fun, prizes, golf and an incredible dinner.
