Ski Fit Conditioning, Part 1

Prepare your Body for the Mountains

Develop a strong core, upper body, and powerful legs to prepare you for the mountains.  Skiing and snowboarding are a prime example of an ultra-dynamic movement. Not only are you moving down the hill at a rapid pace, you are simultaneously maintaining balance and stability while eliciting strong lateral movements across the slopes.  With the myriad of challenges presented to your body, the ability to perform controlled, multidirectional movements is paramount.

Ski hill warriors, also known as “weekend warriors,” are at a higher risk for injury.  This is due to most people’s general lack of regular conditioning combined with the sudden demands of downhill skiing on the body. Your general fitness can have a marked affect on your performance, the prevention of associated injuries, and therefore on your overall enjoyment.
